In the fall of 2007, several performers and artists gathered in Nessler Park to perform for a group of Texas City residents in what would be known as the Charles Brown Blues Festival, held to honor the memory of blues musician Charles Brown, who was born and raised in Texas City and went on to establish his own unique style of jazz and a remarkable lifetime career.

Now in its fifth year, the Texas City Music Fest by the Bay, A Charles Brown Day of Remembrance, has progressed rapidly from its modest beginnings and blossomed into a musical event that attracts thousands of fans from across Galveston and Harris counties. By continually broadening the scope of featured music, the festival now provides wide appeal to music lovers of every age.

The Fifth Annual Texas City Music Fest by the Bay features an entire day of live entertainment and music, spotlighting local and popular Texas artists, including THe Chosen and the Kevin Herrin Band, Marcia Ball, Leroy Thomas and the Zydeko Road Runners, Hamilton Loomis and the Randy Rogers Band. In addition to this great lineup of musical entertainment, the festival offers a variety of activities, vendors, and food to entertain adults and children.

We invite you to come out to Texas City's beautiful Carlos Garza Park on Saturday, September 10th for an exciting day of great music, amazing food, and fun for the whole family!

Mainland Medical Center is conducting a Free Health Fair. Also there will be a tamale eating contest sponsored by First Choice Power Company.
